I am a 31 year old African American man that has been attracted to Asian women for as long as I can remember. However, before my marriage, I never dated an Asian woman. Not that I am divorced, I want to try to pursue a serious relationship, possibly leading to marriage with an Asian woman. My question is, how do Asian women view African American males in the U.S.? Are we looked down upon? Are we seen in a positive light? Are we looked at as possible mates? I am quite aware of our negative image in the media and I assure you that MANY African American males are not like that. I am educated, polite, have manners, I am very respectful to my parents, elders, and everyone in general. I am healthy, I like music of all kinds (including traditional Chinese Classical music), and I have never ever been unfaithful in a relationship. I would like to hear from some of you all here regarding this. If there are any Asian women here, please give feedback. Zai Jian!

There was a well informed programme on BBC TV this week( I downloaded it to view it in China).

Going into the fact that so many people from China were emigrating to live in Africa.

It seems that the women whom are interested in me haven't notice my colour. Then to given that there are a few famous men of colour now from USA, i.e The Prez. Kobe, M.J., Tiger. Insite is changing. Worry more about what your friend and family may thing once you find the love of your life.

Frank, don't know if you still check this thread, but you do realize that you came to a forum of mostly white men to ask what Chinese women want?

Here is a fact:

Kobe Bryant's jersey outsells Yao Ming's in China. When Kobe Bryant does his yearly trip to China, he fills up stadiums. So all that rubbish about how blacks being portrayed in the media goes right out the window. No one cares about that crap if you can ball.

I've been reading this from different people for the last year about how Chinese women don't accept black men (and it is always coming from a white guy).

I can't speak for Mainland Chinese women, but I've been hit on by women in every Asian port that I visited. A lot of them were juicy girls (you guys call them KTV girls), but that's only because those were the ones who spoke the best English.

I have no idea how you spend your personal time, but my friends from another kungfu school in town travel to Taiwan frequently. One day I joked with them about why there are no black students at their school. They told me because those guys went to visit the grandmaster in Taiwan, and the girls wouldn't let them leave.

So what was that about Chinese women don't like black men?

We have a teacher from Ghana at our school - young and handsome - he has no problems with the girls. Believe me, the Chinese women are obsessed with keeping their own skin pale as possible but on the whole they are not worried about someone else's skin colour. What you generally have to realise is that no matter what your ethnic background is you are going to be noticed here because you are so isolated from the western culture. We all stick out in the crowd here because of many factors and the main one is because we are so damn ugly!! TIC

  Yes they do,

I am an African American man who's engaged to the most beautiful and wonderful woman anywhere in the cosmos. Yes she happens to be Chinese. Her name is Wen Jun and were madly in love. Were both college educated, respectful of each others cultures, parents and elders, polite, smart, tough minded, love life and live and breathe for each other. Plus were both warriors. I'll let you figure that out for yourself. Her friends and family don't see me as just another black man like some of the comments here are suggesting Chinese women do. So in truth I don't understand the basis and generalization of Chinese women's attitude towards black men in China. Trust me gentlemen I've been there many times while on Active duty as an enlisted Marine. Im going back soon to marry my Fiance Wen Jun very soon and believe me, Chinese women love black men. Just be yourself, be respectful of their culture and traditions, be sincere, act like a gentleman, and you'll find a loving woman. Nope my queens already a part of my kingdom guys so don't bother :-) Good Luck to you all.
